Culo inquieto: Una aventura en el Mediterráneo

Editorial (Bachelor´s Degree Final Project. In collaboration with Lucía Espín)

Editorial design of the first volume of a collection of pop-up children's books that deal with nature in the different climates of Spain as a way to battle nowaday’s children lack of contact with natural environments. Specifically, the volume presented below focuses on the Mediterranean area, since it is where we come from and therefore it was easier for us to investigate.

The book that appears in this photographs is a prototype.

My main focus was the creation and implementation of color and textures basing them in the real environment, as these illustrations would later on have to be recognizable for children.

Textures were created through a process of experimentation of different techniques such as tracing directly from nature, watercolors, crayons…and then scanned and converted to procreate brushes after being edited in photoshop.

After the illustrations were finished and after building a few models, I proceeded to set up the book’s main layout and then create the final prototype.

However, once it was completed it came to my attention that in the cover we hadn’t contemplated the size difference as well as the bleeding needed for it’s correct assembly.
